Swami's Beach sits on a bluff in Encinitas where a point break creates the standout right-hand swell that draws experienced surfers from across the region. The beach earned its name from the nearby Self-Realization Fellowship ashram, founded in 1937 by Yogananda, the Indian spiritual teacher who established the organization in 1920. What began as an informal surfer's nickname for the clifftop area eventually became official when the former Seacliff Roadside Park took on the Swami's name.

The break is rated among the top five surf locations in the world and stands as the only significant point break of its kind in North County. The reef requires considerable paddling fitness and has attracted professional surfers including Rob Machado and Taylor Knox. The spot gained lasting cultural recognition when the Beach Boys included it in their 1963 surf anthem, cementing Swami's place in California beach culture.

For families in Encinitas, the ocean rhythm—the tides, the seasons, the draw of the water—shapes daily life. A term life policy sized to the years when a spouse or child would need income protection if something happened is the practical side of that commitment to the place and people you are building a life around.
